It takes the standard youth stereotype and presents it in a relatable format.
The Title KiDULTHOOD was chosen as it coveys that the protagonists followed are attempting to step into and adult world ahead of their time. Furthermore they use a play on words regarding the title in particular the word `HOOD` this represents where the individuals concerned originate from.
Setting The Tone
The opening sequence is set in a playground this contradicts the stereotypical view of the playground which traditionally is a play of fun and joy characterised by ball games, slides, swings, ECT.As oppose to the image portrayed of aggression, violence and misery.
Aggression is conveyed through the characters physicality for example many of the characters stand in a slouched manner with closed body expressions and hostile expressions from the vast majority of the leading characters. The minor characters possess a lower status and therefore have lowered heads and a closed stance and body expressions.
The outsiders Are easily distinguishable due to the their choice of apparel primarily in standard school uniform with minimal or no additions of their own and where they are situated within the grounds for example they tend to drift away from the more dominating members.
The words I would use to describe the character of Trevor Genuine, relaxed and intimidating.
The soundtrack is stereotypical of the films genre content and purpose this helps to build tension as the audience can subconsciously predict the basic plot and themes of the film.
